hello i have a set of d80e heads that already have had the exhaust bumps cut off and may have a slight port job. somebody put studs and 2 nuts on each stud to adjust the rockers that are on them. anyways i wanna put some aluminum roller rockers on them, do i need guideplates and hardened pushrods. can i use pushrods from an HO motor since they probably are stronger. i need to know any and all info before doing this.
forgot to add that this is a roller ready block so it is an HO without the roller lifters and cam. does that still mean i can't use HO rods
The length of the pushrods is dependent upon the size of the lifters. Roller lifters are taller than standard hydraulic lifters, therefore use shorter pushrods.
If it's roller ready, then the conversion to roller cam is simple. You just need the lifters, pushrods, cam, and a "conversion kit". The conversion kit is only $60 or so. The lifters and cam are the expensive part.
But it's everything or nothing. Either convert to a roller cam or get parts for a non-roller application.
