Small lift questions

So I am in the market for some new springs. I would like to do a small lift over stock. Something in the neighborhood of 1.5-2" max. I know the procomp springs are the most recommend but I don't want to go 4". Needs to fit in my garage still and 4" would be cutting it pretty close. I've looked the suspension threads and having a hard time deciphering the spring codes and their various mods. What would you guys recommend?

Have you looked in the Tech Folders yet? Since you are looking for a smaller lift, stock springs for a different application should keep you under 4", or you can modify your springs by adding leafs.

Good thread here with suggestions from Pirate4X4, post #6, for 2" lift ... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-lift-kit.html

what is your current ride height as measured from center of hub straight up to the bottom of the fender arch ?

my point is, is your suspension stock but sagged and you are trying to get back to a stock height or is it stock suspension and still maintaining factory ride height ?

when new before the front springs sagged the measurements were about 23 front 24 rear.

are you wanting 25 front and 26 rear ?

you dont say how you use your Ex or why you want more ride height so I cant really say what suspension setup you should build.

but if I was building a stock Ex for mostly street use I would be after making it a well handling and comfortable highway cruiser capable of towing to max GVWR, I would want to improve front suspension travel and ditch the rear blocks. plus i would want it level. to achieve s 25” ride height i would:

front procomp 22210 with bottom leaf removed.
your v10 came with a spring rate of 350 lbs inch and the 22210 is 430 lbs inch so removing the bottom leaf gets it closer to stock spec. and a 25” ride height.

in the rear i would use a procomp 22415 and remove the bottom 3 leafs, ditch the block , use PMF top plate with air bag tang. then i would run a set of airbags to set the final height to 25”

i would choose KYB monomax shocks
no rear sway bar and switch to a 2wd front sway bar.
on that setup i would run stock rims with 33” tires and set my alignment to .003 + Toe and +5* caster.

since mine would be a 7.3 i would not need to change gear ratios but with a v10 running 33s would require a gear ratio change

I do occasional towing of a skid steer so , yes towing to max GVWR. Mostly it gets my family from point A-point B. The front has always felt "squishy" so was hoping to upgrade to something a little stiffer and in the process maybe get a couple of inches of lift out of it. I have 285/75/17 tires and with the stock 3.73 gears don't really want to go any taller for tires at this point because I don't plan on re-gearing any time soon.

Could you elaborate on this setup a little more? Monomax shocks for the Ex or truck (or truck front/ex rear)?

To complete the airbag setup would the top brackets from the Firestone kit work (https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories...135825302.html) along with Firestone 6781 (or equivalent) bags? And maybe some Daystar air bag cups (https://www.daystarweb.com/product/a...-black-daystar)?

6.8, 33's (285/70R16E) and 4.30 or 4.56?

I like the idea of having the rest of the pro comp springs on the shelf if I decide to go higher in the future!

can i get the same 25" or so recipe for a 2000 7.3 4x4, current measurements LF 22 RF 23-3/8 LR 23-1/2 RR 24-1/4 I acquired a slightly used (roughly 2k miles) rough country 3 inch kit but if I'm leaning now the rear will still be leaning after the rear blocks are installed so i should probably do all new springs

if you want to change your suspension start a new thread And I will be happy to help, it gets involved to do it correctly and iron out the details, but short answer is yes you can get 25 @ 25 or what ever you might need/ want

i can elaborate until your eyes bleed. LoL but i’ll save everybody that for now.

that firestone bracket is for the top frame mount.

you can use the firestone kit #w217602251 or just top upper bracket but you will still need a new top plate with air bag tang from PMF to mount the bag at the axle end. all Ex bag kits factor in the use of the stock rear block which I remove with how I build the Ex rear suspension.

Daystar cups work well

me think 4:30 but I do 7.3’s so check with the v10 guys to be certain, the will likely say 4:56

I'm a 6.8 guy and just got the 4.56. I have not towed yet, but it is night and day different from the 3.73. I would go for a 5 Star Tune and get the economy and tow tunes and a third one of your choice. I have the economy setting now to get better gas mileage. Good stuff.

What kind of mileage are you pulling with the 5 star tune? I am looking at their Y-pipe also.

Right now is not a good time for me to gauge the mileage. I just got my new Ford Reman. engine and am going through the process of breaking it in, which means every time I approach any kind of grade, I gradually accelerate to help bed in the rings. Once I change out the break-in oil and put in some nice new synthetic, I'll have a better handle on the gas mileage. Maybe by that time I'll also have some decent gauges installed to tell me exactly what my mileage is.
