I know this is an old thread but found the picture of tacson's tank on the Hambs. I was wondering what Fuel sender pick up did you use in t he van tank the one with the fuel pump or the 87 and older one?

ok thanks sorry for some reason I missed the year on your tank being pre fuel injection Thats why you went with the f-150 pump. Im wondering if the chxx pump would put out enough for a mod motor know it will run a ls1. I picked up a new blazer tank at the swap meet its a 30 gal but looks like it will fit my 69.

Roy,
I was trying to see how Donald installed his C%^# Van tank but his gallery is lost or something. What does your post mean? "Thread about Chevy fuel tank"

Donald,
Have you still got any pictures of your tank installed? Looking particularly in how you ran your filler tube.

I added(from a 65 F250 it was the same width as my 49) and moved the rear xmember farther back to the end of the frame(note in the pic the ends of the old xmember i drilled holes and pluged welded at those remains when i boxed the frame) and trimmed the lower frame rail just a little so the flange of the tank would fit up to the lower rail, I then boxed the frame, notched the frame to the rear of the spring support for the filler neck.

trim the edge of frame for tank you can just make out the line
there are some blue marks on the left rail the start of the filler neck layout

I should say I put in some 3/4" pipe at the bed bolt holes for crush and locating, later I welded SS bolts together that held the bed

Mine is a little different being a 56.

GM8c Between the rear upper shock mounts and the rear crossmember moved back and bolted in the rear shackle mount holes.

I use a piece of drive shaft at the filler notch in the frame, it was a tight fit through the frame and below the bed and still have slope on the hose to the tank I used a adaptor from exhaust pipe to go from I think 1 3/4 - 2" at the filler on the tank ill look for some pic

the filler notch starting to shape up on the left you can see the edge of the spring support
