Pass mirror plate welded on,body worked, door torn down. Removed the door and reinstalled after I was done welding. I'm gonna catch crap from some about my choice of mirror I know. I need a mirror that I can see around my camper with so I did a variant on a new model mirror with a Chevy mounting base. Several people I have see do it and I didn't find any other option I could stomach. Flame away my people...my junks gonna be nice enough so hate away. On to the drivers side tomorrow.

If you can see, that's what is important. My wife and I use walkie talkies and when I back in on my blind side (passenger side) all I can see is the side of the camper. For that backing up it would be great to be able to lower the aim of the passenger side mirror to see the wheels and where they are going. The drivers side is fairly easy to see. I finally got my wife trained (haha) to just say and nothing else except stop is to say passerger side or drivers side. Anything else is just confusing. If the rear needs to go more to the passenger side, she says passenger. If she doesn't say anything then its going good. I've watched trucker you tube and RV you tube and there is a lot of good info. One video is called the 'swoop' or 'Z' approach which works great. I use that at home on my busy street. I always go around the block to be able to back in on the drivers side but sometimes that's impossible. After 12 years of RVing you would think I would have it down pat but I can still completely blow it, lol. Also, one of the biggest things is to completely ignore all the other campers watching you.

Edit: Also use the rule 'Goal'. Get out and look!!

ugg I dislike backing it up. I need to get my wife onboard with a training program like that. The biggest deal is the original tiny mirrors literally would not see any at all past the corner of the trailer. They were fine for normal use but not much more. I don't hate them so far. We shall wee what tomorrow holds lol

In really wish somebody would start building a good option actually meant for these that wouldn't mean me butchering my truck. It is what it is and I'm happy enough. Main thing is the vent window works still completely.

I like it, wish they made an out of the box deal like this for these trucks. The work truck has those dinky f150 mirrors...they litterally are useless.

It does look completely different without the vent window. Never would I think about eliminating that feature tho.

Aaron, I like the mirrors. I have found my plate to flex the door skin too much and will have to make a z shape for inset the door below the vent window to stiffen the mount as it vibrates a bit. Not as bad as the original wing mirrors but enough to give my eye a tremor.

What mirrors do you have Nate? What thickness plate? The plates I bought but did not use were 3.16. I just didn't see the need for that thick plate. I did 1/8" and hope it isn't a terrible decision.

I used the infamous dodge mirrors. I know I know bad karma.

I chose heated powered mirrors and wired them in so they are adjustable from inside the cab. They are pretty simple that is a major part of my decision.

The plates I have are 10gauge and they flex the outer, lower door skin. I have another set of doors if I decide to really get after it but for now the welds have held so I have left it alone. Lots of other more pressing issues.

Well,I got most of the cab interior torn down. I su k and because of lack of good light pics won't come out right. Maybe tomorrow night I will get some more torn down. The painter is supposed to drop by so we can get an attack plan together . I'm chomping at the bit to get the cab gone and start on the bed bottom, chassis etc. Its time to really kick this crap in gear.
