Took a ~2000 mile road trip with the extended family from VA to ME and back over the July 4 weekend. Pulled a camper trailer all the way. This was a first time for me pulling a camper / trailer of any sort. Nobody else volunteered to drive and I ended up being the designated driver for the whole trip. The EX handled the trip well with 7 people and the camper behind. Averaged ~40-45 mph over the trip. I was able to get it to ~60 mph max before the trailer sway made it uncomfortable to me. Over all came out unscathed except for a blown front tire.

On the way back, also did the drive up Mt. Washington auto road. Now that was a scary ride up.

Finally hooked up the marker lights in my mirrors, drove to New York to pick up a car, (saw a dead bear on the turnpike in PA), stepped on a pipe hanger (like a nail) while doing some plumbing and took the Excretion to get some race fuel for the Mustang. Side note, fuel pump leaked like crazy so its now apart on the bench awaiting new seals. No vroomvroom for me.

Still trying to decide what to do with wheels. Need new tires before winter so I need to decide, put the HD wheels on or stick with the 16's and just replace the tires....decisions.....

In the past 6 months I've added OEM fog lights, new Powerstop rotors and pads all around, new Rancho 9000 shocks all around, and upgraded to 08+ tow mirrors. I'm currently exploring better headlight options.

We also went on a 4000 mile vacation from Ohio to Arizona and back. I kept track of my mileage in a spreadsheet for future reference and did better than I expected averaging 14.6 MPG.

I hate to ask but after searching I still haven't found it...I remember reading a thread for replacing the front axle dust seals...not the yellow o ring at the unit bearing but the next seal inward. I noticed both of mine are bad (axle shafts rattle over bumps) but no fluid has leaked out. Anyone?

Rob, this one should work, up to about 8:30 mins. With the axle shaft out, you can replace that dust shield.

^ Thank you! Looks easy, I'm hoping that someone has the link with part numbers and some sort of home made seal installer...anyone?

I'll take a good look at my balljoints while I'm that far into it. Last check they were a-ok, originals just turned 176,000 this am! I'll probably change the hub bearings too.

Edit: Well, disregard that sentiment I posted because I see the product is still being made. I thought they stopped making them back in the 70's.

Better still, try finding a 60w incandescent light bulb for those old original ovens!!
Dang greenies, now kids can't even play with their toy ovens.

I have a stock pile of those bulbs...100W. Bought them for my daughter's oven that she doesn't use anymore.

Those are some extra special ball joints you have there. I must be on at least the 3rd set in 120k miles with no real offroading to speak of. That or your roads are well paved.
