Ford finally did it right with the explorer

Wifes car needed its first oil change. I wasn't really looking forward to it. Our old 2012 explorer XLT was a paint in the butt. There were several sheet metal plates that quarter turned and locked into place under the oil pan. Sorta of a cheap skid plate i suppose. So it turns out ford did it right this time and left those out of the 2015s. Had no idea until i crawled under neath. One less thing to lose on the freeway.

Pretty happy to have my truck back. Wife took the diesel to work. I was stuck with the mini van...

Well done! I always figured those were for reducing wind drag. Side benefit of scaring away 'do-it-yerselfers' from changing their own oil.

I try and save $ when I can. Over the years I've had had experience paying someone else to change my oil. I caught a lube shop not replacing my oil filter. The final straw was I took my old truck (chevy) to a local oil change place after work one morning. I was pretty tired, I just wanted an oil change but the lube guy was trying to sell me some bs maintenance stuff. I told him politely no thank you but I'm not interested. The gentleman wasn't very happy with my response so he walked out of the office into the bay... the door stayed open for a few seconds. Enough time I heard him call me every name in the book. A coworker, sitting in the office witnessed this transpire. I walked over to him an advised him I'd like to speak to the manager. Apparently the guy that mother f ed me was the HBIC... Needless to say I took my keys and left that place. Ever since then I've been doing it myself.
