I know that feeling - when I needed rod and main bearings for my engines, NAPA had to source them from several stores and wanted me to pay postage. Summit had them in stock and offers free freight.

As fun as all that is really a moot point cuz Motors not even built for me to put it in the car

Go back to what I was doing repairing bed and getting it ready for the bench seat and camper topper I'll be installing this weekend

Lol sorry here ya go

You go that's all the pictures I have right now they're all mixed matched and out of order but that's what she looks like
that's the motor when we took her out and took her apart
The camper top is on my 73 F-100 it's just sitting on there temporarily until I can finish restoring the camper top to the way I like it and getting the truck bed on Big Red set up the way I want it

In one more time just for the heck of it I'll reiterate what I'm building

Doing a heavy duty rebuild on it- meaning that I'm going to go over every little bit of the car and replace it with a high-quality part or the heavy duty version of that part.

I will be bumper towing 2000 to 3000 pound trailer
I will be installing a camper top with bench seats in the back for the kids to sit in
I will be connecting the cab and the truck bed by taking out the windows and sealing them together
And then every little doodad I've ever wanted to put on one of these trucks I'll be getting

With a 3440 payload capacity
And 2000-5000 tow capacity
I see no problems making it happen!

I am not trying to throw poo on a poo pile, but have you thought about the frame flex on these trucks? The joint between the cab and bed will have to be very flexible so you don't rip it open the first time you hit some uneven ground (on purpose or otherwise) and the cab wants to move independently from the bed.

Just an observation I had. Good luck with the build!

ya I started wondering that after I had the idea.
found some cab to window seals online
then I was going to make sure is not stretched tight across the gap but is a bit loose
then the seal from the window to the camper topper will flex with the truck!

well its been a minute since I got the first block! so far its gone as such

First block -- remanufacture crack -- master machinist rechecked everything found a large crack so block is trash

second block -- cylindrical crack on cylinder 1 -- got from a guy of Craigslist retards had it siting in a shed an 2 cylinders had standing water in them ( course didn't find out till I took it home and apart) so it was a trash block also
But it had some almost virgin heads on them so I scored there and was worth the money for the block

Third -- GREAT CONDITION!!!! -- this is a extra strong variant with a 105 mirror image. meaning from what I have found it has stronger webbing in it and can take a full .80 over if need be
Thankfully the block is great we are going .40 over and go from there
but the master machinist said it was a great block no problems. he double checked all the test just to verify its good to go!

back to working on the bed and body!

Good job on the block, and nice score on the heads. Hopefully you can send those other parts (for the .080" over) back to Summit

In addition to the flex, consider the durability of the boot. I know that out here in Ca, the boot will last about 3 years with no cracks if it is not maintained.
Concerning the front sway bar, you should be able to find plenty of these at the yards. Just have to replace the bushings.
Finally, my question is about the additional springs in the back. Will this stiffen the suspension too much without the trailer hooked up?

I've been looking at accordion boots that stretch from 2 inches to 4 inches. besides the accordion boot I'm also going to get the inflatable tube that goes in between the cab and topper. ill stop the paint wear by putting the rock guard plastic you put on newer cars on the cab and topper before installing the tube. with both of those I should have the flex and water seepage covered

ya I got a sway bar from a guy off here just have to install it!

as for the suspension I've decided the only upgrade ill be doing in the rear is adding some coil overs to it.
the topper is heavy between 300 - 350 and then the weight of the regular gear ill have
between 400 - 600. so the suspension will have weight constantly on it
ill have to do some trial and error on the shocks till I get a good feel

Time for a update!

I had to take a break for a while I had some medical problems that are all good now!

but even so I still made some progress
the bed has been patched, rewelded and remounted on the frame
the brackets for the bench seat is all made up
its all ready to get rhinolined (that is this weekend)

the engine bay is ready for cleaning and paint
along with the front clip is striped and ready to paint as well

had a snafu with the pistons bought press fit wrist pin style needed float style
got some nice hypereutectic aluminum pistons will be going 40 over on bore and crank and rods are 30 over
with some luck they may get it all rebuilt before the end of the week!

besides that still a long list of other things
cab floor repairs
undercoating the whole truck
removing and rebuilding the rear
just straight cleaning the crap out of the nooks n cranny's
finishing the topper
then all the doodads I want to put on it

so much fun so little time!
