Now the tracks are watched by sensors. For all the good they do.

Looks like someone attempted to customize this poor old panel at some point....
Appears to be a Nash grille. Not sure on the bumper.

That's the Kaiser 'K' and Buffalo… or at least the emblem is.

Looks like that bumper did it's job. It looks perfect and most of the front sheet metal is trashed. Ouch, my aching forehead. And just when you thought a jailbar truck was homely in it's original form comes this abomination.....

Some things just defy explanation.

The emblem is the Kaiser K and Buffalo (Kaiser's former partner Joseph Frazer said the buffalo matched Kaiser's personality to a T!).

But the grille is from a circa 1949/51 Nash.

The bumper could be a '52 Plymouth with holes blown in for the Ford brackets. Also, a one size fits all aftermarket grille guard, or maybe it is stock Pontiac.

In 1949, Frazer knew that the Big 3 were going to introduce all new bodies, told Kaiser they should cut production.

But Kaiser was bull (buffalo) headed, said a Kaiser never retrenches, their partnership was then dissolved.

So, guess what happened? Frazer was right of course, 10's of 1000's of 1949 Kaisers & Frazers sat on Willow Run parking lots...unsold and weathering.

They sat there in 1950...too, all had to be repainted. The bodies were finally used up on the 1951 Frazer.

It's a Mercury.

I saw an article in Vintage Truck a few years ago about a milk/bread truck like pictured, but don't recall the company that produced them. Anybody know? Stu

Helms Bakery is long out of business (were located in Culver City), but there are a few of their trucks in collections. Petersen Museum has one, I think that Leno has one.

Good eyes noticing the two rear fender mouldings that Merc's came with.
