I've never actually seen engine 618 itself, but the rails run alongside US189 from Provo to Heber UT, alongside the Provo River below Deer Cr Res. It is a beautiful drive. Somewhat less scenic after the winter Olympics in UT. They did a major upgrade of the road to improve access to Park City, where much of the games were held.


I've driven it dozens of times en route to WY. It joins US40 in Heber, which takes you north to I-80, bypassing the mess they call Salt Lake City.

Yup. That's a VERY popular "cut-off", if you're going that direction!

Though I can't claim dozens, I've traversed that route at least a "few" times.
