There's not supposed to be any shiny on a Flareside bed.....that's part of their beauty.....In fact, I am not positive on this fact but, I don't believe that Ford ever put any trim on the cabs of a Flareside......Since most of them were based on a Custom trim level.....I think the ones you see have either had the trim added, or have been cab swaps......I don't recall EVER seeing a new Flareside with trim on the cab.......Yeah, I was around when they were new....and yeah.....I used to watch them all the time back then......I REALLY wanted one......but was a poor boy who couldn't even think about a new truck.......Only ever owned 1 a Late '77 F150 4x4 (Had the '78 round headlight nose on it).......from about 82 to 92......wish I would have never gotten rid of it but got the "new truck bug" in 92 and bought my first new truck....a 92 F150 SCAB SWB 4x4.......ex wife made me get rid of the '77 after I got the '92 "We don't need 2 trucks" Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah.......part of the reason she is an ex........LOL

78 Peb,

I think it would be way too coincidental that alot of people would have put trim in the cab and fenders of only the F150 flairsides after they bought them. But I digress.
as for me and mine, I like the clean simple look.
don't get me wrong if a person was to customize their truck with matching components and not be "all over the place" with whatnots and dohickys.
now back to interwebz truck XXX

with out trim

with trim

Thanks for the pic, @dads77, and the refocus...I was getting away from my original vision. I think I'm back on track now.

Like I said.......I'm not positive on the fact about no trim on the cabs of most Flaresides.........and back in the day when they first regained popularity .........most of the ones locally were the Freewheelin' package.........Just never saw any with trim on the cab until later years...........
