I saw the 3889# payload sticker and started thinking a SRW might work out afterall... then see the 2885# and it's back to thinking dually.

2885 is the lowest I've seen by a few pounds. The 5th wheel hitch drops it by 150# or so.

F-250 or F-350? That does seem quite low. I really hope my F-350 SRW PSD 4X4 cc, short isnt that bad. But those ramps and console vault will have costed you a few lbs for sure.

I wish I could have gotten alloy wheels on their own without any package upgrades just to have cracked #3900.

I have been here reading for a long while trying to decipher and decide what i can expect for my F-350 Plat SB PSD.... And I'm still hoping it will haul my 20k Toy Hauler. But i recently found this and was wondering if anyone else had ran across it or if anyone still needed any additional info?

This is taken from page 26 of the Truck body and upfitter guide.

Interesting. I never thought of a factory sold 5th hitch affecting payload but if it's ordered with the truck, they likely take it's weight into account. So, that sticker would be 150# or so higher if the truck was ordered without the hitch... (If that's indeed the case...)

Pages 21-26 show the specifics on the GFAWR and GRAWR for the different types of 350's based mainly off of wheel/tire size.

I hope this isnt information overload... But did anyone know that the little $85 snow plow package included all of this? My highlighted portion is worth the $85 alone!

I posted a warning about this for SD/5th Wheel noobs like myself. Ford publishes payloads that are intentionally unrealistic and pie in the sky on their web site. Even payloads in their supplemental "Maximum Payload Charts, Snow Plow Application Charts, Cab-to-Axle Dimensions and Spring Selection Charts" supplemental ordering PDF document are off by hundreds of pounds.

The maximum limit on the 5th wheel hitch SRW is 18,000 lbs. Ford recommends 15% tongue weight. That's 2,700 lbs leaving me only 360 lbs for passengers and cargo from my 3,060 payload. The "Payload Package Selector" makes no mention that a Lariat trim with options would reduce the 4,340 lbs payload to 3,060 lbs.

Yep, you have to read between the lines. What you see in their capacity chart and what you find on the lot are two very different things. I found the same problem with GMC. For my current half ton, what you saw in the brochure is very close to what you ended up driving. I got spoiled by Nissan.

This thread made me take a very careful look at my own stickers. Turns out, when it comes to Ford's over-ambitious marketing vs reality...

It's even worse (tremendously worse) for F250 owners. Some Ford charts I looked at made me think I could tow/haul anything. Then I noticed on the yellow sticker that my payload is barely over 1700#.

With help from the great guys in the trailer towing forums I was educated that I could expect no more than about 13,000# in trailer weight. However, given my abysmal payload, I came up with much much less realistic numbers.

With a nicely equipped Lariat 4x4 6.7 long bed, the payload will be around 3300#. With 900# of passengers+dog, a 150# hitch, and a relatively light 2500# pin on a 15k camper, I'm over the capacity of a F350 srw before adding firewood/cargo. Still leaning towards a f450.

I may trade in my wife for a lighter version so I can get a bigger dog, and still pull a 5th wheel.

I just ran an ETIS report on your truck and mine (on order)... I found we only have these key differences.
I have: Front and Rear mudflaps, snowplow package, and clearance lights.
You have: Trailer TPMS/Camera prep, Gooseneck hitch (did you order the actual gooseneck ball?), PTO.

So besides these small differences and our color, I am really hoping for atleast a 3272lb Payload.

Have you weighed your truck to see where she actually sits on the scales? I would be interested in knowing this....

Quick Reply: Stickergate / Rear GAWR on SRW 350 is only 6340#???
