Ok trans is out so is the trans x member. Tranny will sit about where the end of the t case was when its all mounted in. I'll need some sort of body lift to clear the clutch housing but we'll get to that then. Cleaned up the wiring in the front half of the frame and cleaned the fuel lines. Got the frame cleaned up and painted on the drivers side. Here's pics
Auto shift linkage if anyone wondered what it looked like
Ok back from vacation. Picked up a married np205 to use for the t case. It looks like I'll be making an adaptor to go from the back of the trans to the t case. Then I'll add some extra support with a bracket to the rear trans mount bolts. I will then mount the trans from the bell housing and the engine from its front mount. If it works for a 10 or 18 speed with the added weight from the splitter in the same area as the tcase I don't see any issues. Then I will have a married case 205 twin stick on a eaton 7 speed. With 35 inch tires it will be a 43 to 1 crawl ratio in first so I'll have some good trailer backing abilities with that ratio and a 2wd low. Working on a place that will make an adaptor to go from 2 inc 10 spline on the trans to the 31 spline ford input. Then I have a local shop that will CNBC plasma anything I want just gotta get measurements etc. I may make some mock up pieces out of cardboard then.
I think I have a problem. Every time I go on summit racing I order $100 to get the free shipping. I only needed a $20 cab corner but I filled the cart. Either way the cab corner and other parts have been ordered to progress on the cab but it's not in stock so who knows how long it will be till I get it.
Ok got a lot done. The outer rocker and cab corner are in. I need to do some clean up on the welds but it's there. Which is a lot after the last few weeks. Still have to prep the psd for snow so I can make truck fund money plowing. Then this winter after the cab is fully gutted I will flip it on its back to do the small patches underneath. So enough rambling here's pics.
I forgot some pics of the 205
Really dirty and she will need a good cleaning but this should Hold up to the dt360
Ok picked up 2 of 5 goodies today. Found a ton of 19.5 railway mow truck wheels at the junkyard. Other 3 will be picked up tomorrow. There is one differenerent will be a spare as they only had 3 of those. I would like all 4 and may need to go look around again but it's all up a big hill. So here's the teaser pics. I may pick up a set for the psd too.
I think they fit well with best truck possible with 90s parts. And these cost a ton of money new. Also the center section is 3/8 or so steel. They are heavy.
Cab is pretty much stripped and ready for the floor and cab corner repair. The sound deadened on the firewall sagged down before it was even painted so they will be replaced with redneck dynamat.
You can see where the or insulation was. The slope on the left side is where it was folded over.
Dimmer switch area for reference or if anyone was wondering. I think I'll weld some nuts to the backside of the floorpan to use bolts instead of the stock screws
Ok didn't do much on the cab. Metal work is getting boring really fast. But it was nice out and I got the 19.5 wheels cleaned up and painted to prevent rust for the winter. Next year they will get powder coated. I'm debating black or body color. The body color will look a lot nicer. Also the wheels are only rated at 3000 lbs each so I was thinking dually would be nice. This will give me 12k on the rear versus 6k which is too close to the 285/75 16 tires that were on there. I want to carry 2 1 ton pallets of coal or pellets on the back. By the math that's 4K plus 7k for the actual truck. A little heavier for the new engine and trans will gross 11k. That will be close srw. Now to the pics.
So body color or black? Srw or drw? Put in the opinions.
The drw pics have the second wheel just sitting in place. I will need a 1-2 inch spacer between the wheels to make the drw option work. I hate spacers but a high quality steel spacer will work well and hold the load.
