04 to 06 headlights

04 to 06 headlights
I know this should be in the super duty section, but can we move it after its done????
K, here's the pics
K. I just lost inet. Crap, I have a 2006 with a ranch hand. This is an 04. Will the headlight support out if the 06 line up inside the 04? Anyone done this? I know they have kits that are $1000 for this, but it'd b a lot cheaper to use what I have. I can either use the 04, or the 06 headlight support, that's an inexpensive part ($130). But will the 06 headlights, bolt into an 04 support? And will the 04 light sockets go into the 06 headlights. I know the bottom of the grill is different on them, I'm gonna "wing it" on that if I use the 04 support. I'm almost home and tomorrow is when I will be doing this. Just was looking for any input on the subject. K I'm gonna post this n reread it to see what I left out. Thx guys

It was a deer strike,,, like my 2am headlight??? I've been wanting to convert this 04 to 06 front for a long time,,, k,,, it's time lol. I'm gonna get some new headlights for the 06 when it's road worthy, and the grill. I'm gonna need a stock bumper to go on the 04 once the 06 is back, but while we're using it to haul with,,, I'm puttin my ranch hand on it.

Funny thing,,, I got an 8 pointer in the grey one, decided to do the ranch hand instead of stock,,,, three months ago,,, freakin deer ran n2 the driver door/fender!!!! I wish I could've gotten that one on the front. I have a pintle hook in the front hitch, I will sish-kabob the next one that gets n front of me.

For those that don't frequent the 6.0 section,,, I've got two trucks, the 06 is the star of "engine removal pics" n the 6.0 section. I've been wanting to get the 04 updated since,,, well forever!!! I have all the parts already off the 06, so is like to put them on the 04. Including the ranch hand. I'm a traveler, and this happened last night at the 220mm in NE. I delivered in fountain CO, and am now goin home to KC. Tomorrow I'm gonna do the swap, just looking for any pointers,,, I've been reading other posts about it also.

Yes, the body parts are the same from '99 through '07 models. Where the difference is with the bumper/grill that changed in '05.
And your having a nightmare of a month...ever thought about staying off the road until Thursday? Maybe November will be a better month for you.

Ive never did this update & i heard u have to change the Supports in order to put the 06 lights on ur 04 BUT i do know the oe Bumper from ur 06 will have to go on the 04 if u put ur 06 lights & grille on.
When i sold my oem chrome grille the guy who bought it had an 02 & the grille would go on if the bumper was removed but now he's waiting to buy my oem bumpers...lol
The older style bumper sits an inch or 2 higher than the 05-07's do.
As far as ur Ranchhand goes iam not sure u can switch.
My 2000 had a sweet GoRhino brushguard that i tried to put on my 2006 & it would NOT fit. The brackets that went around the tow-hooks lined up but the 00' bolted to brackets off the front leaf springs which of course the 06' doesnt have cause it uses coils.
Basically it will depend where it bolts onto....Let us know

I will let you know. The ranch hand bolts onto the flange at the end of the frame, then relocates the tow hooks. I was planning on getting an 06 bumper for the 04 once the engine is in the 06. The chrome plating is peeling off the 06 grill surround. So I'm prob gonna get a new grill for the 04 and paint the surround where it's peeling and keep my existing 06 grill behind the ranch hand (it's goin back on the 06). This is complicated to explain,,,, 04,,,06,,,switch this,,,, do that,,, I gotta draw a picture cause I'm getting confused. Lol
So the end result is,,,, on the 04, my existing 06 lights, new 06 grille, new 06 bumper with the cap painted
On the 06, new lights, existing 06 grille, ranch hand.
But for now while I'm using the 04, everything used off the 06. I will have pics of it. Sure hope it all works.
Two issues I'm thinking bout now,,, how am I going to attach the bottom of the 06 grille (with the clips), to the 04 support? And I'm hoping the 04 lights and pigtails will lock into the 06 headlight assembly.
