i would think the cutting of the metal turning them would generate enough heat ( with the monkeys in parts stores now adays) to make the metal more plyable again.
Nah, turning the rotor doesn't produce near the amount of heat normal breaking does. After a rotor is cut, you can touch it immediately and it's barely warm. Breaking makes 'em heat up...a lot.
Also, once the metal has been cryo treated, it's permanent. Re-heating the object doesn't remove the cryo benefits. If it did, cryo treating engine components (rods, blocks, springs, valves, etc) would be a waste of money.
thanks! i hope so and yes the deal is the only reason i did it. next months credit card bill will be a tough pill to swallow but alas the price we pay to mod these great trucks!
any reason you didnt go with the LT275/65R20?
BTW just put these on my ex and love them but we dont get snow here and I dont think they will do well. They do well on our beaches.
Pulled the 34' travel trailer home from yogibear campground. Had arrest time other than discovering a slide leak. Ex handled great and pulled great on the open road. In the city, not do much. Tranny temp stayed around 149 -156
What's an acceptable temperature for the tranny ? On my V10 with 4r100 it gets up to 170, but it's been 110F here. And this is just driving solo around town.

yup, i wanted to stay close to stock overall diameter of 31.6ish rather then the 33"
i ran the 275/55's on my old '04 and loved them.
i have dedicated studded snow tires on stock 16s for winter so that did not worry me.
in the process of changing front and rear diff fluid, along with transfer case. popped the rear cover off the rear diff and cant believe how clean the fluid was. still a golden clear. with 155k miles, i figured it would be dark. i guess it could have been changed b4 but with the bolts how they were, i doubt it......also adding the new finned cover!!!

You are ok up to 220.
Also, don't forget that the in-town driving will push the temps up much quicker than highway driving will as the torque converter generates more heat when it is unlocked.

Thanks, that makes sense yes.
I haven't monitored it at freeway speeds yet. Will do next week on a longer trip. Checked the fluid and it looks clean so I should be good.
I took the '05 camping this weekend with my trailer, to a Sunline owners rally. This was the Ex I took to pick it up when it was brand new, so they go way back together...
I decided to take an aerial pic of the sites using my tripod on top of the Ex:
The weekend went well, but this Ex needs some help with the front end. I knew it was bad, but as it usually goes, the issues really become apparent when you tow. The left ball joint was replaced a few years ago as it seemed to fail prematurely (around 40k) and was replaced with a Moog, so now I think the right one is gone. It wandered horribly.
The braking abilities on this Ex always seem to have been lacking a chromosome. I had to do a panic stop for a red light early in my trip out and the ABS came on and it just didn't want to stop, and that was with my Prodigy maxed out. I need to adjust the trailer brakes too as they've never been done and I think it needs it, but it never seemed this bad with the F-450. It pulls and stops fine with the F-450. It's a good thing I didn't have any serious panics on this trip because I probably wouldn't have been able to stop in time, so I will certainly take care of all this ASAP. Even though the pads on the '05 seem fine and are only maybe half gone (had one off last summer), I think it might be time to replace them.
Today, I pulled the rear wiper motor from the wreck's rear window. Hopefully I can clean it up and install it in the next couple days.
I hate ABS! Many times I had to stand on the brakes only to have ABS kick in and take all my brakes away meanwhile while NOT stopping I am thinking to myself "boy I would have been stopped already if it wasn't for this ABS bullstink"! May as well just have an ejection button in vehicles now days if they want to take away driver control.
