WOW! Great deal on those springs.
This is about the best deal I've seen for an adjustable pan/trac bar Amazon.com: Zone Offroad 99-04 F250/350 ADJUSTABLE TRACK BAR: Automotive I still use my stock one but this is on the to do list.
I had a coworker give me my X/B's, 20k take-offs looked new! I took the B's single top overload leaf off and added it to the bottom of the X pack (3 leaves now). I did the B code mod with 2 of the EX's short leaves and spacers. I also swapped up to the 4" tapered blocks. Saw about 4" all around (don't have my notebook with me now), I see a lot less squat when hitched to our ToyHauler (1400#+ tongue). It does ride like a truck, not brutally harsh but firm for sure. I did have to use a ratchet strap to mate up the second front spring so I know the pan/trac bar is under tension somewhat from the added ride height. The axle doesn't look offset but I'd still rather have the adjustable bar in place. I had a local spring shop make all new U bolts so my total cost was about $60. I'm very happy with the swap and I sure don't miss bottoming out the front on every bump in the road! Those stock tires and wheels really look tiny now.
I have before/after/install photos on the computer, now I just have to have my 14 year old son show me how setup a photobucket account and post them up here........
so thats a good deal? I've seen springs for like $40/ pair... I don't think used springs are worth much if you can just find someone who lifted their superduty! But being patient and searching for them is time consuming...
Thanks WE3ZS. If I understood you right. You took the top rear overload and moved it to the bottom of your front packs?
I'm planning new shocks all around and I'll have new blocks and that track bar ready before I make the swap. A local shop here has a fast turn around on making bolts too.
Hasteranger: These were 13k takesoffs from an F250 fx4. Used springs aren't abundant around here. Considering the cost of a lift kit with four new springs not just lift blocks and stock ex rears, this was a good deal IMO.
There are a few ways to skin a cat, but one of the most common ways to make a modifed B code spring is to take the two shortest leaves from the Excursion spring packs and add them to the B code spring pack, placing the Excursion leaves between the shortest leaf of the B code, and the bottom overload leaf. You also remove the sheet metal spacers that came on the B codes and replace them with the 1/8" spacers from the Excursion springs.
ImaThorp, yep, top overload leaf off the rears and added to the bottom of front spring pack. Kind of overkill I'm sure but waste not want not! If your new rears have the top overload leaf it has to come off anyway, our EX's don't have the pads for the overloads to land on and those leaves will hit our rear A/C lines and that $uck$.
I found my notes, my front started at 38 1/8" and with the modded X codes went to 41 1/2" so +3 1/8" on the front.
My starting rear measurement was 39 1/8" and with the modded B's (just like Stewart posted) plus I cut down my stock "slapper bar" and left it between the new 3.75" tapered blocks and the new B code bottom overload plate for an after height of 43 3/4", a 4 5/8" gain. These rear springs don't squat nearly as much as the stockers.
I think I'm still gonna go with the 5" procomps and nix the stock block. Sounds like the way to go, if they still squat or I need some more I guess I could add in the stock leaves. Should be just right though. I'm going with v codes with 2" add a leaves up front, just for the record. I debating whether I should get the procomp kit that comes with pitman arm and all new u bolts and a drop trac bar bracket... it comes with everything but front springs for $600, but I'm not actually lifting it 5" since I will be deleting factory block so I don't know if I'll need all that stuff.
Hasteranger. I put a 6" pro comp on my 01 X and loved it. Huge ride improvement. At first I didnt use the drop pitman but found a problem with bump steer, so I put one on. My guess is if you stay under 4" of lift you wouldnt have that issue.
I'm not really wanting to lift this one as much as just improve the performance. I HATE the quatting rear look and porpusing. With these springs I'll pick the rear up with springs instead of just blocks, plus gain a better spring rate. If I could get enough lift to tuck some 285's under it nicely that is all I'm really after.

Yeah I feel like at least a 2" lift is necessary to achieve adequate axle to frame clearance on these trucks. My front should be right around 4"... maybe I'll just try the springs and add the drop pitman later if I have excessive bump steer.... and I guess the drop trac bar bracket will go on at the same time. So for now I just need U bolts. What are you guys doing for u bolts?
