i just fixed my crossover pipe and put it back on and now i have a really loud noise coming from the engine compartment it all most sounds like an n/a thats striat piped but the noise goes away at 1500 rpm and sounds like normal i can hear the turbo when i rev it i hope you guys can help me cause this is driving me nuts thanks
Sounds like something isn't connected right. Check the downpipe as well as the crossover. What kind of turbo do you have? For the ATS design the downpipe is just pushed up into the turbo outlet, there isn't really anything holding it in place there, just a small bracket down lower. When I first put mine on, I didn't have the bracket in the right place, or tight enough, and the downpipe slipped right out during my first test run. See if the exhaust gaskets might be leaking.
i had to torque the crap out of my crossover pipe flange nuts to get it to seal up good. Once i did i found my boost will get high and stay high, no leaks here. Almost sounds like an exhaust leak. Can you try to describe the noise? like a clicking, rattle, clack, etc? maybe a vid so we can hear it?
its kind of a rattle like a powerstroke but its loud like open headers would a leak get quiet when you rev it past 1500 rpm i will try to put a video up tomorrow
with mine, only when going slower in top gear could i hear the clicking sound, hard to describe sound but yeah when i rolled WOT, it was drowned out. So it is entirely possible, or it could be rubbing from being misaligned, not poking at you, just hoping to help ya out bro!
id look at them to make sure they arent bent, dented etc and then yeah sure, clean them up nice, and coat them then clamp the hell out of them haha. if that doesnt work then it may be timing or something rubbing or similar.
wow that's really bad.
that sounds like what id expect the idi to run like if you retarded it's timing a lot.iv never done it though,so it's only a guess.
she sure doesn't sound healthy.
snapon are you sure there is something in the pipe? i don't want to take the pipe off again but if your sure i will check thanks for your reply i really need this fixed asap
was it a new crossover pipe? if so there may have been packaging in it. scary sounds bro, sounds like a miss or blockage. kind of like when i had my return lines blocked. ka chug ka chug
Not sure, just guessing but it dang well sounds like that. My case is strengthened in the fact that it wasn't making this noise with the old crossover. I'd check just to make sure cause if there is, you'll mess up your whole impeller, and possibly the bearings and compression wheel.
