heater core bypass with a electric twist
 

I've been wanting to do the heater core bypass for a while, but I wanted to find a way to control the bypass valve with a switch. After losts of searching i finally found this.

when i finally get my F650 dash installed it will be controlled with one of the switches. right now i have a temporary switch on it. installation was a breeze. I tapped directly to the black hose coming from the pump so i could control it whenever i wanted to. here is what it looked like hooked up.

That's a really slick set up. Very OEM looking. I have an 03 with the factory cold air mod. I'm wondering how to hook this up with that.

I had looked for a similar vacuum switch, but was unable to find one. That will do exactly what I wanted to do. Thanks for sharing.

I found that 12V solenoid valves from a Honda Goldwing motorcycle work, but you need to adapt the hose size.

I'm tied into the black hose for summer, but since winter is around the corner it's time for some type of switch. I like that one, good find.

dumb question: isn't the heater core hoses bigger than the little nipples on that solenoid?
my bypass valve is much bigger than that.
I want to do the mod correctly and ditch the manual vale I have installed.

You splice this switch into the vacuum line going to your bypass valve, so you can turn it off and on at will.

sorry i didnt take pictures of the bypass valve. there have been lots of writeups on that and i was just trying to show a different way of controlling the valve. the bypass i used is the same one that everyone has been posting pictures of.

i had the valve for a while but had been looking off and on for about two months before i found a solenid that was relatively inexpensive and would work.
