Salt Flats support truck, looks like a 53, great profile. This is why I love the post war trucks. Can you imagine the story that guy is telling? :-partybud

Cool pics, Reed and Jeffie, of your trucks and you using them for what they were designed to do.

I bet the guys at the transfer station got a kick out of this old truck hauling junk. It has happened to me with my '54.

Jeff, did you take your tailgate off? to protect it?

Abe,
We took the tailgate off because it was going to fall off. I must admit that the only thing that thing has hauled besides me, is leaves. I found the truck in Scranton, it was on EBAY about seven years ago. The tailgate is on now.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Jeff :-tap

There are so many cool pictures in this thread. But I really love the old trucks that are working today. To think that these trucks were built 60 years ago and are still working is just so cool.

Here's one I spotted today. I don't know who the owner is, but it looks to me like this truck is still workin' for a living.

It's been a while since we've added anything to this thread, and I found this on the HAMB I thought would look good here.

56 Merc coe

:-jamminThank you Fomoko 1 for the #160 post. I have been looking for 53-56 Merc coe's to get vin numbers to verify where they were built. I just e-mailed the person to see if he will e-mail partial vin. Can only wait and see.Oo.As my 56 Merc. coe has a U.S. vin 52 Merc (and some others) and I threw the idea around awhile ago that possibly the 53-56's were all built at Detroit Truck:-duel1So far I have only found two other Mercs but no way to contact. Oddly #160 has Ford emblem on the hood as did one in Calgary, Alta. Did a post a while ago asking other Merc. coe owners to step forward, but no luck. May try again in the new year. Happy Holidays.:-wink

jmadsen's first pic in post #125 I believe was taken a few miles east of Hobe, B.C. on the Hope - Princeton Hwy. Note the trucks in pics one and two both have sanders on them, good hint as to winter weather conditions on that hwy. Trucked over that road a few times in the 80's, could get a bit hairy.
