Never engage 4X4 on dry pavement. If it has not disengaged try backing up for about 10 feet with the wheels straight. The bumpy hops may be a bad tire. Or a bent rim, axle, etc. COuld be busted wheel lugs as well as loose lug nuts. DO a visual, pull and tug. |
If it was "bumping and hopping" before you put it in 4wd I don't think it's related to your xfer case or other 4x4 components. Wheel bearing, maybe?
Tires aired up? Did it do it all the time or only when you put on the brakes? |

The clicking noise is probably your auto lockers. And if they are clicking they need replaced. I recommend Manual Lockers, they are much stronger.

I assumed you dropped the trailer when you said you unloaded it. You didn't try it without the trailer?
Drop the trailer and go for a ride. The trailer could have caused your problem. |
Have you tried it AFTER you unhooked the trailer? You're right, could have just been the trailer.

well i thought it wouldnt be a problem with nothing on it but it could be lol sorry :-banghead but still the nosie is still coming from the front end i will try it in the morning
its been a longggggg week for me sorry |
so everything is fine but still have the clicking in the front end when the 4 wheel drive is on. i was testing it out the other day just moving back in foward in my drive way my dad said it might be the half shaft on the driver side is bad....does that sound liek it could be that problem?

Lockers? Lockers click when they go bad.
