'92 Ranger/'94 Explorer Transmission Swap
I have a '94 Explorer with manual transmission (Mazda). Recently the
transmission is broken and the rebuilt shop sold me one from a '92 Ranger (V6, 4.0L). I was told they are identical. I installed it together with all new clutch parts. Both the new clutch master and slave cylinders are for '94 Explorer. After that, I found the clutch doesn't work (I don't feel any pressure on the clutch paddle even after completely get rid of the air in the system). Now I just found that both the clutch master and slave cylinders are different for these two trucks. The slave cylinder for '92 is a little bit longer than '94. So I am wondering if my problem is caused by this. I also don't know if the replacement of both master/slave cylinders to those of a '92 will solve the problem or they will fit at all? Could somebody help me? Thank you very much! From WhyFord |
