360 = 390 with 352 crank, longer rods, and 390 2v car pistons or something very similar, that sit down the hole .120 or so. No other diffs, as installed in PU's.

Add the 390 crank and rods, and the 360 pistons, or 390 2v (car) type pistons, and you have a 9.5 or so compression 390.

You can also add more stroke, to a max of about 445 with the 4.05 bore engine.

The FAQ is an excellent place to start. Then, go through the threads. There are "360 to 390" posts every month, sometimes two at a time. This has been gone over dozens of times in the last year alone.

If you want to go a litttle bigger, a 428 crank in a 390 is a 410...torque with a capital "T"

Speaking of the 360 & 390,Question:How much can I Overbore & Stroke the 390 Engine,Without the risk of Engine Block Damage,What would the c.i.d. be (4___ cu. in.) with max Overbore & Stroke on the 390,Would increasing the throw on Stock 390 Crankshaft (3.780") or use the Crankshaft from the 406-428 SCJ (Super Cobra Jet) for more cu. in. from 390

See your other post, and see the FAQ's regarding the bore/stroke of different FE's.
