8 quart oil pan capacity

I have a 75 F-250 4x4 with the original 360 block ,with a Milodon rear sump 8 quart oil pan . I am assuming the original pan was 5 quart .So add one quart for filter change .I use an extra capacity Wix 51773 .I am coming up with 9 1/2 quarts . I read in HotRod or Carcraft mag about determining level by adding oil until pressure drops . Thanks

The rear sump, 4x4 pan holds 6 quarts.

Yeah, that's when the oil foams up, the pump sucks air in, and you ruin your bearings. But at least you know how much oil it'll take :-X14

Does the pan have a provision for a dipstick, and does it use the stock one? If so, just fill it to full on the dipstick............

It has a Milodon dipstick . I am looking for the article by Carcraft . I just read it about a month ago . Oil pressure has been fine since I installed the engine ,1500 miles ago .I am getting ready to do my forth oilchange. I look for sales on oil !
