Back Up Sensor

Anyone looked at the feasibility of adding the back-up sensor to an older truck? Can do? Huge pain? Can you even buy the units?

AutoZone has one that you can install for around $50. A buddy of mine put one on his 83 Chevy 4x4. That thing is lifted to the sky and rides on 38's, so seeing behind him is a PITA. It works pretty good. The beeps get faster as an object get's closer, then when it's a few inches away it gets to a solid beep. Not hard to install either.

yo,
I bought the "Smartpark 2000 @ BJ's Club for $19.00. It is also sold under var. other names; but it appears to be discontinued. I believe BJ's still has a few left. as well as that jcw place; search for "back up"; but they want $60.

Here is a diy install on a passenger car.

It was simple to install on our 96 Bronco. We routed the wiring under lic. plate and along rear bumper (inside) and up through the rear fender aside the factory wiring harness to the right rear tail light assy. It was a good thing we did this because the factory harness was in terminal fraying stage bec. it was installed tight to the fender's sharp edge.

ok jrs,
BTW, forgot to mention it's working great! I always worry about the grandchildren and people, esp at night. And that buzzer is loud, if you get one, test it out in var. locations before installing the buzzer so it doesn't become an annoyance.
