An 08 with soley an Edge isn't quick. Maybe 240 RWHP at the wheels if you're lucky. This is a truck which is in the 17s in stock form. A stock Sierra of around the same year model is going to have about a half second advantage or greater in the 1/4 mile.

All things being equal (gearing, displacement, cab configuration, 4x4 or 4x2) the previous generation f150 will give the current generation a run for its money with very similar 1/4 times because it weighs 500lbs less than the current model, sometimes even more depending on configuration. Its often going to come down to driver and reaction time.

one time i was on the highway at night and a mini cooper was trying to dart in and out of the cars by passing in the right lane. the first couple of times he tried to pass me i didnt speed up but he just ran out of time. then i started to mess wit him by going faster when he did this and get to the next car in his lane cause mine was empty. this went on for about a half hour and the whole road was empty and we both floored it. i pulled him a bit and when i hit speed limiter we stayed kinda even so i let him go. i dont even know how fast i was going cause the speedo only goes to 100 in my 99 f150 5.4 3.73ls. i know it was kinda stupid to do but there was not another car on that road for miles and he was pissing me off be trying to pass in the right lane.

My brother's 07'(4x2) easily beats our other bro's 01'(4x4), but......... the 01' has 175K miles and hasn't had a tune-up in 100K:eek:. OTOH, the 01', has taken on our friend's 07', also 4x4 and the 01' had the slight edge. BTW, all 3 trucks were 5.4

I do agree with FTEKEN though, the two generations are pretty close performance wise, and neither are "fast".

What do you mean by that? there are 5 or 6 RABID Chevy owners up here, (you know, the ones with the Calvin urinating on the Ford Oval, with the bumper stickers all over them, etc) who have been beat by my truck. they avoid getting up on me at the light now.

Don't doubt if you're thinking your 02 is even close to as quick as an 08. I used to have an 02.

No, I don't think my 02 is as quick as an 08, but they are both slow. We're talking trucks here. The whole "it's gotten to the point chevy's won't pull up next to me at a light" is a little over the top.

Now my 1969 Chevelle SS396, that's another story....

Go Broncos!

hehehe, you think our trucks are slow now, try being in my shoe's, i work out of town for 28 days straight and have a buddy who has a hopped up 03 lightning with approx 500hp at the rear tires, at the end of the days i'm use to his lightning when i hop back in my truck hammer on it and just like wtf? are you going to go, lol

My 02 must have been a dog then. It was nowhere as quick as my 08, nor did it ride as nice. It had 113k on it when I got rid of it. My truck isn't fast, but it's faster than the Chevys that are up here. Especially the ones with the big tires. I have the 3.73 gears, so I know that's part of it.

GO CHARGERS!!!
