People has had problems with the parts store CPS. Don't know what the difference is but I would get one either from IH, or the dealer.
Someone may tell us the difference. |
Yeah the parts store versions are not the International ones and have been having issues..

Your truck is undoubtedly on the recall list. Have a local dealer replace your cps.

thanks guys.i probably should have had it just towed to the dealer.

Cps
I wouldn't have it towed unless its just undriveable as it is. Reason is even though the CPS is under a recall there is no guarantee the dealer will pick up the tab for the tow. If you don't mind the cost of the tow then this isn't a big deal.
What I've found is the only ones that work reasonably well are the Ford & Navistar CPS's - I've tried NAPA, Federated & Advance w/o too much success. Makes me wonder if Ford/Navistar are having them screened (Electrically) in some way that the other parts houses don't know about. I can't imagine too many people are in the business of making these. Mine truck was dying soon after startup about a mile or so down the road, just quiting. Seen the recall, made an appointment, done in 45 minutes.
