Hello can any one help me on replacing the rear axle seals on my truck? I am going to do this myself but have not gotten into any yet. Are the rear axles "floating axles"? And is this a big job? What Seals do you Recommend putting back in? Also any torque specs? Any help will HELP alot..
Thanks Mike |

I changed the inner seals on my truck last fall. One thing is if the inner part of the seal stays on the truck, just hit it with the rounded end of a ball peen hammer. It will cause the thin metal to spread out and give you enough growth in the diameter to slide it right off...
The bearings looked fine so I just repacked them, I had around 80K on it at the time. |
Great job with the instructions highland61.
Here's a link with some pics of the seal change. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...ake-shoes.html |
that is real helpful .getting ready to do mine.

You do need a good size hammer and use your old parts with some brass stock to set. or take the hubs and parts into a heavy truck shop....they have the right stuff. . |
