Interesting stuff, particularly the pictures. As for that third link, that gives you a pretty good idea of how much time the state legislature spends on things that never get done.
No surprise there, I guess.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page of the third link, there are more links to some interesting pages. One page has info on how some California towns got their names.
