California highway signage history

Two interesting webpages with information about California freeway and highway signage:

www.kriske.com/highway/signs/signs2.html

www.kriske.com/highway/signs/signs.html

The site has not been updated since '99, but it's still interesting, or a cure for insomnia.

Here's another where you can find more info: www.cahighways.org/names.html

Enjoy!

Interesting stuff, particularly the pictures. As for that third link, that gives you a pretty good idea of how much time the state legislature spends on things that never get done.
No surprise there, I guess.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page of the third link, there are more links to some interesting pages. One page has info on how some California towns got their names.

Due to the immense popularity of this thread, and to ensure Monsta continues to get proper rest, here's another link of Caltrans pictures!

I hope you enjoy the obviously staged Black Butte road repair picture. Too bad we can't see the remainder of the crew of 8 leaning on their shovels behind the cameraman.
