another burnt computer? this isn't right
I recently replaced a transmission, found out my computer was bad.....
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...-computer.html and I was forced to get it taken care of at the dealer. Whenever they said it was a computer problem I immediatley assumed that the computer itself was bad because I do have a DP tuner chip and any chip is "notorious to burn up a computer", says technician. They were the only guys in town that could get the computer and flash it in order for the computer to work. Today they flashed it and said it ran fine for a little while and then it " fell flat on it's face again ". How can this happen? Is my truck ruining computers? Anything else it could be? |
Dunno, I have had a chip in mine for over 3 years, folks here a lot longer. I have to call lame on that dealer. Inept.
|
I really don't know what else I can do. I had that chip for two years roughly and it gradually started to shift funny.
Now I haven't had my truck for near three months and no one can get it right. |
was it flashed with the chip in it?
|
Well, here is the big test. Remove the chip and the yoyos ought to be able to fix it without blaming it on the chip. I suspect you may have other troubles.
|
I removed the chip. Didn't tell them about the chip until he said my computer was no good.
I really can't think of any other problems. What do you think it could be? |

Better Idea, tomorrow a.m. call Jody at DP and tell him what is going on. HE is the guru of PCMs. worst case scenario, you buy a PCM from him with a stock tune on it and then put your chip back on. (Jody's PCMs are like 225 IIRC) versus dealer at $600 or more.

cool, i'll talk to him tomorrow sometime.
