Need Help with Newly developed Stalling

I have A 99 f-250 Powerstroke with 120 and change. No mods-ever I have owned from day one. All of the were filters changed @ 114968 Miles, I keep a log and do all work on the truck myself. Alternator, leaf springs and ball joints are all that was ever required outside of normal maint.

Yesterday on the way to work (1 time) and this morning on the way to work (2 times)
truck has stalled on deceleration, I shifted to neutral and started right back up. Yesterday I stopped and put some fuel in, as it was low enough the light came on. No problems going home. The second time this morning there was a hick-up if you will which immediately set the Check engine light on. Light did not come back on after restart @ work.

I believe I have noticed a slight loss in
power over time but assumed this was Turbo fatigue and the fact the truck has 120k on it. Now I wonder if I have an injector pump issue or possible a fuel delivery issue.

Any advise is appreciated

Kevin

CPS would be first thought

Ok Forgot to add it has been a little colder in the mornings here over the last couple of days...........Would this increase the chances of it being the "CPS"

X2. You can get a CPS(Cam Position Sensor) for between $15.00-$25.00 most places. Good luck keep us posted. At least you can still start yours....

Change out the CPS. If that doesn't fix it, UVC Harness inside one of the valve covers. Check out www.7point3.com for right ups on each.

Instructions for changing out the CPS. Takes longer to round up the tools than it does to change.

X 5, on the CPS. As for the losing power over time, check your boots for a boost leak, the clamps have a way of loosening over time. check your up pipes (to the turbo from exhaust manifold) for leaks also.

I had problems with boots leaking even with tight clamps, never got full boost til all boots were replaced

Good point Ray, sometimes the boots do develop pin holes. Kev, also check to make sure your waste gate actuator is adjusted correctly and is closing off completley.

Ok Just put in a new CPS. Piece of cake...Also Changed the oil (it was a little low and due for it).

Still has less power then I remember it having. Don't get me wrong it still runs strong just not as strong. I remember the days.... Little cloud above my head...sunshine and daisies... when this thing would set you back in the seat from a roll.

Any quick and easy ways to check for leaks? like checking for intake manifold leaks with a can of carb clean.

How about the wastegate do I need to pull it loose to verify proper seating

I found when I changed turbos the old one had very little spring pressure
tightened new one before installing

No stalling this morning. As of now I am going to say that wa it seems that the idle is a little smoother no more power though but hey I would rather have the reliablity then the power.

Thanks a ton everyone
