fuel shut off solenoid connections

1990 F250, 7.3
OK...fast idle solenoid connector is on the right, throttle position sensor is on the left, there are two single wire connectors on top of the IP...is one or both for fuel shutoff???
thanks,

one is fuel shutoff, the other is cold timing advance

Only one is fuel shut-off (driver's side front); the other one is cold idle advance (driver's side rear).

making progress...

OK...disconnected the front one and it shut off the engine.
So...the back one is cold idle advance...this advances injection timing at cold temps?
And the solenoid on the right which acts against the throttle linkage simply increases idle speed at cold temps?
thanks all,

(trying to learn what makes this baby run)

cold timing advance. the idle advance is the solenoid looking thing on the side of the pump.

Can any of those be used as a quick "idle up" device like when using an ancillary device?

I know when I needed to idle up any of my gasoline vehicles temporarily, I'd stick +12 volts to the A/C solenoid or the "Bypass Air Control Valve" or something of the sort. They're simply air passages that bypass the throttle plate.

There is no such thing on a diesel which confuses me as to how you regulate it's speed.

You would have to buypass the thermal switch located on the front section of the passanger side head. It is closed providing power to the advance soliniod and the throttle kick up soiliniod until the temp reaches 112F.
