1996 F150 Restoration

I am doing a mild restoration on my 1996 f150, it is getting body and paint and some mechanical things, while the truck is apart, is there anythign that you would suggest replacing?

this is a pretty loaded question as you may know. . . first tell us a few things: define exactly how apart the truck really is . . . then what is it doing or how is it acting. . . pinging, knocking, stuttering, vibrating. . . rough cab ride etc.

i am not taking the motor out or the transmission, i just had the trand out and replaced some engine gaskets (rear main, oil pan) now the bed is off and i am working ont he rear suspension, when i would turn corners before, you could hear a popping sound like the weight of the truck shifting so i have to find that problem. i am not takign the cab off or the engine out, and the truck rode good, i just wanted to know while i have the bed off if there are things i should replace

check fuel tanks for leaks, check tank straps for cracking or breaking. . . . check fuel and brake lines. . . check for rust that you can sand off and paint over etc

if you can see it, you should check it. you may never get a view like this again.

specifics I would go for...leaf spring shackles - these tend to rust in salty winter areas, fuel lines (including filler tubes), brake lines and valves, rear shocks. stablizer bar bushings (if equipped) may be the cause of the popping.

Those bottom ones seem to be a pain to get at... I just replaced the side bulbs from white back to their original orange... stupid bodyshop.... anyways I did it without removing a darn thing, just took some smaller hands, and a rachet set with extentions and a swivel doesnt hurt :)
