I'm not an MII guy as you know, but I'll take a crack at this. To my knowledge, there are no kits that allow you to maintain the stock transmission X-member, with a modern V8-AT combo. I believe you'd have to severely modify it at the least. |
I'd see what TCI has to offer in mounts once you decide on the engine/tranny combo. I'd go with a 302/AOD combo. Stock cross member will have ot go. Good Luck

I installed a second new trans crossmember at the correct location under the transmision. I am running a sbc with a 700R4 AOD. For engine mounts, I had boxed the front so I fabricated and welded new engine mounts to the boxing plates (reinforced at that location)

wow thanks.
i ordered a set of weld on motor mounts from tci that come with the rubbers i also ordered a new trans x member that bolts in from them also. that should ties the rails back together nicely. |
I saw this K member for 48-52 F1 and thought you might like to see it.
http://www.rbsauto.com/product.asp?P...17659&l1=17658 Looks like it would be easy to build from scratch to fit any trans. |
