My interior lights do not come on with the doors open, radio stays on after key is off, door ajar lamp is always on. Dealer charged me $220 to tell me the VSM would not respond and needs replaced. This sound correct?

Over and above my $220 spent they want $600 to replace it.

Ouch!!! It can't be THAT hard to change is it?

I keep hearing they need to program it by reading the old one and transfering to the new one on other posts. trouble is they said they could not communicate with my existing one so that is not going to work anyhow.

What year is yours? Seems like all I have seen is on 2002s.
