351 Modifieds weren't avalible in 86, the only351 in 86 was the 351W.
Depends on what was currentally behind the 302, manuel or auto? If for some reason it is a 351M then you would prolly need new motor mounts too. Double check which engine is in it, and then some more people will be able to help out. |
Sorry it was a 5.8L with a carburator I have a 5.0L EFI out of a crown vic i know I'll need different mounts. Curious about the electronics?

You need matching computer, wiring, and sensors.

the crown vic motor would not be a good choice. its setup for a car not a truck . the 5.8 is a far better choice

Your 302 will bolt right in with 351W mounths and bellhousing. 289 (1965 and up), 302s, and 351C/W all have the same motor mounts the modifieds (351/400) have the same mount as the 385 series big blocks even thought they are 335 series small blocks. thats about all i can tell you the wiring is going to suck for minimal performance gains mabey put a carb on your 302, if you had a Mass air motor out of a mustang for something it would be worth it but those speed density crown vic motors are mostly dogs. If you find an 1989 or new cop car you can get the good motor and easy way to tell if if the throttle body is on the drivers side of the intake you got a dog if its on the passenger side you got lucky
