Fuel Maximizer
I was at the ford dealership yesterday and they had something called a Maximizer on some of the new cars with a $395 add-on. Sales guy told me it increases fuel economy 15% - 20% but could not explain how it works. He said it was made by Vortex.
Anyone familiar with these things and do they work? Where would I get one if they do work? With gas at $2.89 here in SoCal...I could really use an extra 20% mileage gain...I drive a lot! TIA, Zimm |
Can't help you on that. When I searched for Vortex Maximizer, most everything that came up was related to growing weed in water.

Read the September issue of Popular Mechanics. You will find your answer there as to how well these things work.

Kingfish, just read the PM article. I did not see where it mentioned the Maximizer. I'm gonna call Sunrise Ford where I saw them all installed and get some more info. I am skepticle but they are the largest Ford truck dealer in Cali.

Well, to be honest, the largest dealer in this area is Koon's. I wouldn't buy anything off them. That maximizer sounds suspiciously like the Tornado or Turbonater, with a large mark up.
Here's something I found. http://users.penn.com/~tomwflye/gas.htm I am also VERY suspicious they would not tell you what it is. This thing happens to be magnets. |
they are trying to sell you the magnetic clip that energizes when the ignition is on. it is a total waste of money you will see no benifit at all. this has been covered and none of these fuel saving devices work.

What a bunch of nonsense!
