2" lift on the front of an F-100 (gotta be only 2"!)

I have a 2WD '74 F-100 (coil springs) that need to have the front lifted EXACTLY 2" to accomodate my new larger wheels and tires (285-60-18).

I know its only a measley 2WD right now, but I thought I would consult the experts on lifts in this forum. The thing is, it can't be any more than 2" of lift and it can't mess up my fresh front-end alignment. Where can I get 2" for the front?

lower the upper coil buckets down the frame exactly 2"... it's garaunteed to work! as for your alignment, just go get it done!

Getting tht truck aligned is no simple task.... Camber adjustment requires bending the I-beams....

I made mine and my stepsons, mine is about 1 1/2, his is 3 inch. Look in my gallery. The 78 is the one that I have pitchers of the 68 has a 2 inch on it but no photos. 2 inch is pushing the limit the radous arm angle.

There's no way in the world that you can do a suspension lift on a twin I beam or twin traction beam without camber adjustment/correction. You could lower the beam pivots exactly 2" but you're still going to be off because there isn't a coil spring out there that will give you exactly 2" of lift. If you're totally adamant about 2" without re-aligning, then put a body lift on it.

The truck I have has a 300 I-6 in it. Could I put in a set of coils from a V8 (460?) and get the correct results? If it is too much of a lift, I suppose I could cut a coil off, right?

If push comes to shove, I suppose I can go get it aligned again (cheaper than new tires). I just don't want some convoluted, epic tale just to get a little clearance up front...

All I did was make some bocks to go in between the sping and the I-beam, then some chanal to bolt to the frame to drop the other end of the I-beam. On the 78 we cut the radious arms and dropped the frount 3 inches and welded them up.

I wouldn't do that, half the guys in this forum would have a hissy fit about a body lift! :-X10 I guess body lifts are the ultimate rath of god for some odd reason.

I dont care, my truck still looked like a low rider even with new shocks, so i decided to blow a whole 50 bucks on a body lift, and it looks a lot better. I didn't feel like dropping money for new coils and leafs on the heap of garbage!

Apparently, Moog offers a "stock" set of springs for these 2wd rigs (replacement springs are apparently hard to find nowadays) that may bring it up to the "as new" stock ride height (whatever that was).
A 31 year old truck is bound to have lost some spring in it's springs...

OTOH, there is this Ebay auction#: 7912154818
Could I just pick these up and install them w/o any other caster/camber/fitment problems? What are your thoughts?
