Parking brake adjustment

How do you adjust the parking brake on a 2000 super-duty? I push the pedal all the way to the floor and it will still roll.

Never had to tighten mine but did see a post here before that said someone took their SD in to the dealership and tech. pumped the emergency brake several times while holding out the release handle. Try that on yours.

get down under the beast, on the inside of the rear backing plate there is a rubber plug.pull that out and in there is a star adjuster, like was on the old drum brakes, use either a straight screwdiver,or a adjustment spoon to crank the slack out of it.count the clicks.and then do the other side the same number.it is easier to do if the rear is jacked up so you can check on it while you do it,do a few clicks then put the brake on see if the tire moves then proceed from there.

Parking Brake adjustment

I have a 2003 ford explorer. All books and info I've read says I should have a rubber plug on the back side of the rear wheel for adjusting the parking brake. I have none. After ripping off the rotor, destroying the parking brake shoes, I'm wondering if I should drill a hole behind the adjuster star so I can adjust these in the future. Should I do this or should I leave it as is? I fear the next time I need to do brakes on it that I'll be spending a ton of cash to replace the entire parking brake assembly next time. Thoughts?
