v-10 Bi-Fuel, need fuel pressure regulator, propane
have a 2001 F-450 chassis cab with factory installed bi-fuel system, propane. Have had it since Nov. and have just over 37,000 miles on her. She quit running or starting in propane mode and local ford dealer said that the fuel pressure regulator was out. Good news is that warranty covers it, bad news is that the part is on back order until mid November. The truck only has an 18 gallon gas tank and being a v-10, well I have to stop at every station. Can someone help? Know how to fix or re-build? Back door for getting the part? I'm desperate, any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks, Scott |
Do an internet search for a conversion kit for the Ford. The company that comes up will have a regulator. It might not be warrenty but it will get you going and you might be able to get Ford to pay! Also if it is going to be 90 days before they can fix you truck, from the time the problem started then you can call the lemon laws into action and make Ford replace your truck.

are you in the USA?
My family in Mexico they have always converted their pickup trucks to LPG becasue it si more efficient. any how I don't know if it would be illegal to run propane in the US. if you are in the US I'd be glad to know beacasuse my uncle can do the installation and parts for about 200 dollars is not less. AND believe me I would probably run LPG all the time.

Its legal to run propane in illinois anyway. the local conservation district converted all thier trucks

carefull LANEGRA99 this is what I also do for a living (install propane kits) and the Ford trucks need a special computer to run on LPG, this computer regulates the amount of propane going in to the engine and if you don't have this computer you have to regulate the amount of LPG by hand and on idle and once you punch in the gas it can cause a backfire and mess up your engine.
WABASHTX, what exactly did they tell you that was wrong?, Maybe I can get the part for you. |

Wow...quite a drop. So in other words, don't do this if you tow. :)
With gas over $3 a gallon, LPG is not a bad idea. However, I do not know the cost here. |
Ive looked for a bi fuel kit for a couple of weeks now and can't seem to find one. Ive called the local ford dealer and unfortunately probably spoke to the newest guy there, I called ford power products and they don't think they can sell one for a street legal truck. Can anyone give me a hand with this. 03 f-250 V-10. thanks for your help. JimP
