2000 ranger sport

Hello, can someone tell me exactly what a "Sport" is? I'm trying to value a 2000 Ranger Sport V-6, AT that is loaded with factory options - all power, etc. Does this mean it's an XLT, or could it still be an XL (which makes a big difference in book value)?

If it has power windows and door locks, then it is a xlt.

Thanks. So now can you tell me what makes it a Sport?

I have a 99 ford ranger sport, but mine is an xl. The only thing that I can think of is the size of the engine and the aggresive style. I really could never figure that out myself.

Sport is an appearance package:

The Splash vanished in 1999, and the XL Sport reappeared. An XLT Sport was also offered, and all XLT models acquired air conditioning as standard. The Sport versions essentially replaced the Splash as they featured color-keyed bumpers and grille, fog lamps and fancy wheels. Off-Road models got chrome bumpers and grille, replacing the former charcoal-painted pieces. The 3.0-liter V6 was now a flexible fuel engine, meaning it could run on gasoline, ethanol or a combination of the two.

XLT Sport Appearance Group ($395) includes cast aluminum 16-in. spoke wheels, sport decal;

My 2000 Ranger (NOT an XL or an XLT) has the color-keyed bumpers and grille, NO fog lamps, fancy wheels and sport decal. The wheels are 15 inch, however. I only have the 2.5L.

cary200, I believe your truck is an XL, it will only say ranger on the side of the front fender, only XLTs got the extra badge.

Hmm, I thought XL trucks had an XL badge as well. Maybe that was in previous years, though.

Thanks

I don't think they did, a guy i work with had a 2000 XL Sport and I don't recall any XL badging. You may also want to check out the link I have in the tech info post to a thread were I posted information from the 1999 & 2000 Ford brochures.

Hey thanks. I always thought ment it had more performance or something. So now the word sport on a truck does not scare me as much :-p
