Rotella T6 from Amazon
In the past I have bought 1 gal and 5 gallon jugs of Rotella T6 from Amazon. This time I bought two 2.5 gallon jugs. They came in cardboard boxes with no markings of any kind. The jugs were in plastic bags. On both jugs the seal was partially open- crinkled up seal. Since one was spilled Amazon is sending a replacement. I want to see if the seal looks like it was messed with as well.
Wondering if this is real Rotella? It came from Amazon not a third party |
I always just looked on Homedepot.com or Walmart to find T6 in 2.5 gallon jugs. Amazon has A LOT of reviews from people buying oil that they show up leaking.
|
is the only T6 I will buy from Amazon.

My only experience with the 2.5 gallon size was from Tractor supply, in store. I had to pick through a few because some were leaking. At the time the 2.5g size used a seal, the seal was loose or lifted a little on the ones leaking in store. Never experienced that with the gallon size from anywhere I've purchased, whether online or in store, but they also have a different cap and seal arrangement.

Biggest I've ever purchased was the '5 quart' jugs, which would be a gallon and a quarter. Some places carry the gallons, others the gallon and a quarter. Much bigger than that, though, and they get to be tough to manhandle and the chance for spillage goes up.

I've never seen shell rotella in a 5qt jug. To the OP, I know amazon sells a lot of stuff that they buy in bulk from china/india and package themselves for resale in unmarked packaging, but have never seen real rotella oil come in anything but actual shell labeled jugs and boxes, I sure would be wary of that oil they sent you. |

Man, you'll have to show us that one.

They would come in unmarked boxes if they aren't normally packaged and sold in that quantity from Shell. Like if I were to order two, 1 gallon jugs I wouldn't expect it to come in a Rotella marked box.

This is why I try to order things from anywhere but Amazon… and if I want something of value and I want to know it’s authentic, I won’t order it from Amazon. There are exceptions, like if the item I am ordering is listed to ship from the actual company.
But if it isn’t in an actual Rotella T6 jug, I wouldn’t use it. Send it back. |

I tried Amazon for T6 once. The order never showed up. I go to Walmart or a local Auto Zone when they have a deal. The Tractor Supply stores out here never seem to have any.

But, shell does sell 2.5 gallon jugs, so something is off.

I would not put it in my truck. Someone may have sucked out all the T6 and pumped in a lower grade oil just to make .16cents more profit........
