Trailer Aid Tire Changer

Has anybody used or had any luck using the Trailer Aid tire changer on a dual axle toy hauler? Mine is a 30 footer.

Nope, I carry a spare bottle jack from Harbor Freight.

I don't have enough room to store something like that in my trailer, while I do have room for a bottle jack.

I've wondered how well those ramps work. By running one axle up on the ramp, it causes the other axle to go down. That may provide enough clearance to remove the flat tire, but will there be enough clearance to put the spare on?

I actually have one of those, but do not use it. It is sitting in the shed. It raises one wheel high enough to remove the tire while inflated, but the rear most tire does not raise high enough when we had our fifth wheel. So bottle jacks it is!

On the internet I saw a gizmo that was designed to go under the axle, beneath the leaf spring u-bolts. With four of them you could get all four trailer tires off the ground, thereby avoiding flat spots in the tires while in storage. Names for this type of device: TrailerLegs, TrestleJacks, Easy Lift Trailer Jack.

Some of these jacks take up a lot less room than the ramp style shown in the first post of this thread.

Hey Guys, just a follow up to if the trailer Aid really works on a toy hauler who's axles are 30" apart. I made this out of a 2x6 and it works awesome. It raised the back tire up an easy 3".

Nice!

Do they lock together?

I used 3" deck screws.

Luckily I haven't had any blow outs in years. Buddy of mine has, and he uses a diff brand but says they work awesome. I've been meaning to buy one but I also know the jack in the dually works well.

I had a forward front tire on my 27'' dual axel T/H start to go. Found an open parking lot and backed just the rear tires up on a curb. That was enough to float the front tire enough to get it changed. That ramp should work the same.

I haven't had to use it much but all I do is use a 2x4 as a ramp up onto a 4x4. My 2x4 has a 45 degree cut on one end and is long enough to lay flat on the 4x4 when the good tire goes up it.
Probably have the scraps laying around or not too expensive to give it a try and see if it will work for you.
If it gets stolen it is not a big loss so no need to lock it up.
Could be used for leveling too.

I have one. Haven't used it on current trailer but did on our previous trailer. I had to put a 2 X 6 underneath the Trailer Aid to get the axle high enough to put the spare tire back on. I would say buy one and try it at home. That way if it doesn't work you could return it. Good luck.
