1956 Ford F100 steering box

Hello, I did an introduction, new to this site. I'll jump right in, I have a 1956 Ford F100 steering box/column that needs a rebuild. Are there parts available, or replacement ideas> Thanks everyone!

Parts are available. Some welding is needed when rebuilding the box.

There are also guys out there who service the boxes if you have more money than time/ambition.
I know of one out in CA whom I have sold cores to several times in the past.

Thank you for the replies! I've contacted Mid-Fifties, 56 steering parts are out of stock and they don't know when they will get parts in stock. I'll keep looking, Thanks!

Well, I received a response back from a company in California, has anyone purchased/dealt with a company by the name of Jamco Parts? They claim to have the rebuild kits in stock.
Thank you everyone for your responses!

Maybe you can get the parts here: https://www.lmctruck.com/1948-56-for...umn-components
I bought the complete replacement from midfifty: https://midfifty.com/item.php?INV_ID...will-fit-53-55
Maybe, you should simply wait until they have them in stock again.

Thank you for the links rico56, I've tried both places, no luck. I found another company in California that has the parts in stock, gonna give them a call.

If you can find a 1956 F-600 steering box, they are virtually plug and play. You have to drill a new hole in the frame and that's it. Much stouter internals. slightly slower ratio and easier steering effort. They last a long time in the much lighter F-100. The reason the original F-100 box wears out so quickly is that they are under designed for the work they do. Keeping gear lube in them is key no matter what. Don't use grease.

F350 and F500 are the same as F600 and will fit as you described above. So this will help your search. However, you are limited to 56 trucks, not 53-55. The column in 56 trucks is shorter due to the redesigned steering wheel.

Good to know. And probably just as hard to find.
