Valve covers

I'm wanting these scott drake valve covers 351 polished but for some reason says they will not fit efi models any particular reason why? I happen to know my heads were swapped with 302 heads im wondering if its because of the height clearance or what

Depends on what you have EFI or carburettor setup, and intakes.

Carburettor valve covers could be taller, and height could be a clearance issue, depending on the intake.

I think the Scott Drake 351 valve covers were meant for carburettor setup.

yes I was trying to see what my options were i have a buddy with a 96 f150 with the 302 and has the same valve covers but the say they won't work for efi but his is and they work fine

The truck EFI Intake Plenum will probably fit just fine. It's the Lower car "cobra" plenums that probably cause the issues, they fit pretty tight down over the top of the valve covers. Just a guess on my part. Alot of the SBF dressup parts are aimed at the 5.0 Mustang crowd, they're not really thinking of the Truck guys.

Im going to try a set cause my buddy has them on his 96 5.0 and they are fine so I think the 351 covers will work on my 95 5.8

Well Please post back once you find out for sure. I was looking at those and couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger because of the EFI statement.

Best I can recall the 5.0 and 5.8L truck upper plenums clear the valve covers the same. So if they worked on your friends 5.0L you're set.

And just a note, the 5.0L and 5.8L EFI truck engines had nearly identical heads from Ford. The only difference being that the 5.8L heads were drilled for 1/2" head bolts where the 5.0L was drilled for 7/16" bolts. Same castings (E7).

It has to do with the oil filler neck and PCV grommet. I don’t think carb/car valve covers are compatible.

Carb VCs put oil fill front passenger side, PCV grommet front driver's side.

Very few OBS EFI truck specific valve covers & these are getting fewer & more expensive:

OH!! THOSE ARE PRETTY!!!!:-X22

They are nice. With a fel-pro metal core/silicon gasket & good fasteners they are leak proof with multiple removal/installations.

After 4-5 years, they are getting a bit of "white on the bare portions. Like to get some shark-hide, but a bit of oil wiped on keeps it in check.
