PCV Conversion
Are you looking to replace the road draft tube for originality or just for function?
Before I swapped my flathead for a 5.0, I machined a plug for the road draft tube and fit a PCV valve to it to pull the crankcase pressure out of the lower end of the motor. My road draft tube was clogged (well the upper half that I had was) and didn't function well. I was experiencing significant blow-by causing minor leaks and smoky exhaust. Once the conversion was done, all the blow-by and smoking was eliminated. It was almost a miracle cure! If you are interested, here is a link to a similar unit for sale on ebay: PCV Conversion https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...0b651e6f26.jpg Here is the picture of the one I made (This was prior to installing to test the interference fit so it isn't fully inserted in the manifold) https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...bc22244d3d.png |
Road draft tubes have been outlawed in Calif for decades...it is such a source of air pollutants that I would figure that all states have jumped on the bandwagon by now. The rig that OK F1 shows essentially redirects the blow-by from the crankcase back into the air intake flow. Much cleaner solution.
