Can you say DIRT BAGS!!!!

Last night my wife and I went out to celebrate my birthday with a nice dinner and returned to our hotel around 7:00 to 7:30. This morning I go out at 11:05 to strat my truck so we can go to church to have unusual noise from my truck exhaust along with a “Reduced Engine Power” and super obnoxious audible alarm.

This is what I found when I looked under my truck;

They em took everything from the Y pipe to the axle.

And don’t anyone say I should just delete. This was done to replace a deleted system so someone can trade their truck in. And this happened in Edmonton Alberta.

First tailgates and now entire exhaust. This is only gonna get worse.

WOW That is Sh1tty!

Colorado350 01-20-2019 02:41 PM

That wasn’t quiet or quick either. I hate thieves...

EDC8008 01-20-2019 03:56 PM

Actually is was quick, only takes abou 5 to 10 minutes with a Sawzall!

The pipe is pretty thin, 2 cuts, one by the Y pipe and the second by the axle, hack the wires and DEF hose and gone. They knew what they were doing for sure.

A few months ago near me there was a fellow had a car fall on him killing him. It wasn't his car and he died with his sawsall in his hands.

Tedster9 01-20-2019 05:40 PM

At least he died doing something he loved.

‘Five to ten minutes with the vibration of a sawzall and the noise echoing through the exhaust…and you’re doing something illegal trying not to get caught that’s a significant time investment. With battery operated tools unfortunately they can make quick work, same issue with wheels. I’d wait a couple days and see if local dealerships have taken in trades of your year truck. Might be worth a quick look maybe you’ll notice the hack job on the trade in...

Wow, I can't believe that! Would someone steal that to install on their own truck or are they looking to recycle the catalytic convertor?

don123 01-21-2019 07:18 AM

Idiots. Probably trying to sell it to get drug money

My friend has his catalytic converter stolen from his truck while it was parked in his driveway. They unbolted it and removed it quietly. He had it replaced with an OEM unit (insurance paid). Next week, it was stolen again. Insurance replaced it again but this time they welded it in place.

Maybe we need an undercarriage cam to catch them?

CollinsCD 01-21-2019 08:02 AM

Yes, a belly cam would work!

Juneaudave 01-21-2019 09:10 AM

That's absolutely crazy...what are these thieves thinking?

alloro 01-21-2019 10:13 AM

I've seen this before, they steal them to sell to the recycle yards for the platinum inside which is a rare element. Most reputable yards require positive ID and the vehicle VIN they came off just to avoid receiving stolen good. Be sure to report it to the police.

Cats have platinum or other rare earth metals, the tweakers get $25 or $50 from a scrapyard, we get $1500 insurance claims and then everybody's rates go up who live in that zip code. Anytime you hear somebody say "Well that's what insurance is for" to excuse criminals like it's no big deal, they need to get smacked. It's a really big deal. They keep statistics on that, crime always means higher insurance rates, no way around it.
