Adding push button start??

sitting around bored tonight thinking about what I can do next and after being spoiled with the push button start on the loaner the dealership gave me while mine is in for death wobble, I was thinking about what it would take to upgrade my xlt. Just off the top of my head I would need the button, antenna, and forscan programming. Has anyone tried this? Is a new bcm needed or just enabling what is there?

Appears there is a substantial difference in dash wiring between XLT and Lariat. There is also a module in the center console that would have to be added. Looks complicated.

What about adding it to a Lariat that doesn’t have it? I believe it only comes on Lariat Ultimate?

Just thinking through it I would think these parts at a minimum.
New keys with the active transmitter
Start button
Dash trim where button goes
Replacement steering column parts to remove key lock and the immobilizer that transmits to your current key.
Console cubby and wiring for the key slot there in case the key battery dies or gets messed up.
The reciever device for the key signals.

That is the minimum that I can think of and that assumes all the wiring is there.

Sounds like a solution in search of a problem. I'll keep turning a key.

After a little digging last night I think poncho450 is correct, even though my truck has the key cubby in the center console already adding all the antennas and other parts required make this a major overhaul. Still going to check with my service manager friend to get an idea on cost but it will probably wait till I trade in 7 years.

Some things would be pretty cool to have for sure. But on the other hand some things are not worth the time, effort and $$$. This coming from a guy who's pissed away all kinds of money on stuff I really didn't need to do to vehicles over the years. :-X0A6

Trade it in on a new Lariat Ultimate. You’ll be surprised how much your old truck has held its value.
