Thinking of making switch, inform me! 2013 6.7
I have a 08 tundra, I love it but I just found a deal on 2013 f250 xlt 4wd with 100k miles for 26k, what should I be worried about? Or things to check, it does need a rear bumper/hitch it's all bent (no frame damage) other then that it seems clean, check engine light was on he claimed low battery voltage and would have it fixed at Ford before bought.
It was a work truck |
I’m gonna guess it’s been abused. I would personally take it to a ford dealership for an evaluation. They possibly could run an Oasis report to give you details of the warranty service record. It it would take ALOT to bend a trailer hitch on one of these trucks. Be careful. |

I'm a technician, I can check it out and get a report run, to be honest seems like a idiot didn't know how to back up a trailer I definitely want proof they fix the CEL, might even scan it myself, they claim its battery related due to it dying on the truck, its Texas truck https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...5b5847dad6.jpg |
it would be a night and day different truck and experience. As long as you really look it over closely, radiator seams, all exhaust components in tact and coolant color and oem fuel and oil fiters. I'd consider it.

Yes on the coolant color
|
Check the hour meter. If idle hours are more the 10-15% of total hours, I'd probably pass. These trucks with all the exhaust filters are not meant to do a lot of idling like old school diesels

if filters aren't OEM I'd definitely be putting them in coolant suppose to be gold color?
Edit: 2019MY Gets Yellow Coolant VC-13 according to the owners manual. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....L._SL1235_.jpg |
The coolant color can vary. Yes they call it Gold, But after 50,000 miles in an engine, it can be red, brown or something between. Color doesn't mean it bad.
Get the test strips and do your little chemistry test and see if the coolant is good. The coolant was rated for 105,000 change interval under normal use. or 60,000 under severe use. |

Also if you can try and get the DPF checked, had mine checked the other day and dealer said it's 35% restricted. |

I second this. I bought a used '13 with 1400 hours on the idle meter because the truck was spotless and never towed heavy, rookie mistake. I have replaced egr cooler, egr valve, vacuum oil lift pump gasket, CAC hose, and I just finished replacing the primary radiator this weekend. Truck has been a blast.
