AC/Heat System Recommends
What is the general consensus in regards to the best system and/or company to use for a complete AC/Heat system add on for my '69 F-100? Thank you!

Why not go with a factory unit? They fit perfectly and work extremely well given the smal cab area. I have a complete unit and compressor. No compressor mount or Condenser, both of which is available through NPD. PM if interested. I'll send pics of the unit and pics of my finished project |
Do you want a modern, efficient heat and a/c combo? Or do you want a 45 year old hang on unit that takes up lots of space, and is designed for now scarce refrigerant?
Classic Auto Air has a direct fit unit thats supposed to be nice. I think thats what I'm going with. |
I just added the Classic Air in my truck. I was able to still use the original style glove compartment housing. It was a little tight but it is in. I already had the fender off which made it easier to fit the A C and heater hoses. |
Compressor, evaporator, and condenser. The only parts that affect the refrigerant cycle that produces cooling.
The compressor is that only change in 45 years and one can get a unit that is adapted for R-12 use for a couple of hundred. So for the $1500 cost of the Classic Air system one can buy everything one needs for the factory unit plus the modern compressor and R-12@30/# and keep $1000+ in the wallet. One of my trucks has the factory A/C and the other two have dealer option A/C and they all can freeze the cab out for *less* than the cost of one of the Classic Air units. Just another option for those on more limited budgets.
