2017 F-250 Water Separator Drain Valve Install

I recently drained the water separator on my 2017 F-250 and broke the two plastic tabs on the yellow valve when attempting to shut the valve. The yellow drain / plug did fully close and has remained sealed for a few days. Went ahead and ordered a few replacement valves and went to install the new one today, but am having issues getting the old one removed. It will turn in both directions but will not come off and feels stripped. Anyone by chance ran into this issue before? Wondering if I'll need to replace the whole water separator or if there is a way to get the drain off. Any advice is really appreciated!

I believe the only thing holding it in, other than the broken off tabs, is friction from an O-ring, Turning it counter clockwise while pulling down should get it out.

That is correct, the o-rings are the only thing holding it in, they also dry out under the truck making the valve hard to turn, I spray PB blaster on it and wait a few before changing or draining and of the filters downstairs.

Maybe the video I completed today may help.

Thank y’all for all of the help! Was able to get the valve off today and put the replacement in without issue. Thanks again!

The part number is HC3Z-9J305-A. Want to say they’re only around $5 a piece.

When I look online for this part its listed for 2017 & 2018 trucks only. I have a 2019 and cant find reference to a 2019 part number.

Can anyone offer accurate clarity and maybe a link to a part that calls out a 2019 specification?

This is exactly why people reading these forums need to realize that part numbers might be different for different years.

Another issue is, this thread started back in Apr 2018 and I looked up this part number online and everywhere that I looked said that it was a discontinued part. It probably has a different part number now as my fuel filters do.
